Kaleb sits up by himself
Last Thursday (10/25) we came home from work and Beth was excited to tell us that Kaleb had sat up by himself for 27 seconds! Since then he has been sitting up for minutes at a time. Kendall was sick last night and today (fever, stuffy nose - I can feel a tooth coming in) so I didn't get any pictures of her to post. She is no longer running a fever, so hopefully this is just a teething thing... I'll get a picture of her doing something cute up soon!
Kaleb didn't quite stay up for Monday Night Football...Go Pack Go!!!

Growing and Growing
Last Wednesday we had their 6 month check-up with the doctor. He was very pleased with everything!
Kendall's weight was 13 lbs, 9 oz - height was 24 1/4 inches. This puts her on the low end of the growth chart (5 - 10%), but she is growing at a consistent rate from her previous appointments, so that is what the doctor is looking for. Since she was born 5 weeks earlier than her due date, my mom figured out that if we plotted her on the growth chart as a 5 month old (instead of 6 month), she would fall more in the 25 - 50% range for her length and the 25% range for her weight.
Kendall's favorite things to do right now are suck on her toes, flirt with her daddy, pull her brother's hair, read books and roll over! She figured out last night that if she continues to roll over, she can roll clear across the room! Now we really have to keep a close watch on her! Reece was on the other side of the room and she kept rolling from front to back, back to front until she got close. Then, she decided she wanted to come over by Jamie and me, so she rolled across again until she reached us! It was amazing to see!
Kaleb's weight was 14 lbs, 6 oz - height was 25 1/4 inches. This also puts him on the low end of the growth chart (5 - 10%), but he is growing at a consistent rate too so the doctor is happy. Plotted on the growth chart as a 5 month old (instead of 6 month), put him in the same categories as Kendall: 25 - 50% range for length and the 25% range for weight.
Kaleb's favorite things to do right now are suck on his toes, eat sweet potatos and squash, jump in the jumperoo, read books and practice sitting up. He can use his stomach muscles to sit up from a reclined position and stay sitting for a few seconds. He can also roll over, but gets frustrated on his tummy and doesn't like it near as much as Kendall does. We used to think he was the quiet one and would probably let Kendall do all of the talking, but he has become very vocal and loves to giggle! It sure is fun!
Hanging out with their favorite buddy, Reece!
Work is going good
Work is still going really well for me, and Beth is doing a great job taking care of K & K at the house. The picture below is them playing with Lukas (Beth's son - 15 months). I am still nursing, so that adds some stress now that I am back at work, but there is a place for me to go at work to pump, and the kids seem to be doing well with bottles on the days that I am gone.
Jamie's aunts Joy and Flo came to visit this past weekend. We decided to try these seats in the bath tub...since the twins are not sitting up on their own yet, they were just a little bit too young for them. Maybe in a few weeks!

Pumpkin Patch
On Saturday, we went to a pumpkin patch with friends (can't believe that we are already approaching Halloween). It was a beautiful day...started off cool, but warmed up into the 60s.

Back to work...
My return to work was last Monday, and the good news is that we all survived the first week! I did well being back at work, and Kendall and Kaleb did well with the nanny at our house! I was very fortunate to be able to spend 6 months at home with the twins. I am also very fortunate to be able to go back to work part time (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday). It is a nice balance! Surprisingly, there were not any tears...the kids were sleeping each morning when I left so I think it made it easier that I didn't have to look at them and say goodbye! Our nanny's name is Beth and she brings her son Lucas (15 months old) with her each day. We feel really lucky to have found her! So far, so good! Keep your fingers crossed for week 2!

Learning to sit up
Well...it has been a while since we've posted new pictures! K & K turned 6 months old yesterday (Oct 5th)! Time flies when you are having fun (or have twins to take care of - ha!). They are really working on sitting up by themselves. They can balance for a few seconds, then fall back or to the side. These "boppy" pillows help to give them some support.
They like to look at each other and grab toys out of each other's hands or grab the other bib!
Proud "big sister Reece" looks after the twins. They love to watch her walk around them, and she stops to give them licks every once in a while!
